Day 1: New Orleans.

Wow, first off. Talk about crazy flights.

Sydney -> Brisbane. About 1.5 hours.

Had a 2 hour layover in Brisbane.

Brisbane -> Los Angeles. About 13 hours. I was hoping of not sitting next to a fat, grumpy, old man especially since I had read I was in a middle seat. But I ended up sitting in between two good looking guys. Yes.

Had a 5 hour layover in LAX. I think this was already me being mad and in a crappy mood. The amount of queues there were in this airport were ridiculous. At the end I only had like 2 hours to myself before boarding the plane. I had to collect my bags, resubmit my bags, recheck in, go different terminals, security, etc. and through the entire process have to queue the entire time.

Los Angeles -> New Orleans. This took 3.5 hours.

I was at LAX and my boarding pass did not print out a gate number or even a seat. Luckily I went to the desk before boarding, and the only seats they had were in Economy Premium Class. Yay. I got an upgrade and I had a really good seat with lots of leg room.

I reached New Orleans when it was about 5:30 PM. I went straight to the hostel. To be quite honest, at this moment I was thinking, "Wow, what am I doing with myself? Why am I here? Alone?". Before stepping in that hostel I was like, well, shit. I entered the hostel, and got to my room. 4 bunk beds crammed in a room, and of course, I had to get one of the top ones. Ugh.  I made friends with a really cute Argentinean guy who actually got with one of the girls here, hahaha, cute. And he invited me outside to have some beers and alcohol with some of the other hostel people. Me and this one girl Caitlin instantly clicked. She was from Virginia and I don't know, I guess I always easily click more with girls than I do with guys. Maybe they are inherently intimidated by me and because of, basically my sexuality, which is overt and clearly not unexposed. That night I drank a lot of beer. Which I normally don't like back home. But hey, any free alcohol is good alcohol I say (obviously not roofied alcohol, hahaha).  They invited me out and I had to tell them I was 19, so I stayed back that night because I didn't want them to have to accomodate their plans for me, and I wanted them to have a good night. This night was the coldest night ever. I could not get to bed, I was shivering and not to mention I was in the top bunk right near the door. Could this get any worse? Oh yes it could. There were only two powerpoints in the room, and they were both taken. And I wouldn't leave my phone hanging there in the night anyway, I guess I'm not that trustworthy yet. I brought with me 3 locks - 2 for my bag and 1 for the locker in the room. I keep all my valuables in the locker and all my clothes locked in my luggage. I was actually going to bike chain my bags to the bed but it's not that bad, everyone else in the room leaves their stuff dumping around anyway, so I figured I'd just look suspicious and as if I had something to hide if I was doing that. Which I don't... and I don't want to attract attention to myself.

That night I just sat in the common room watching Jimmy Fallon with everyone and me just standing in front of the heater the whole night. Hahahaha. I'm ready for a jam packed day the next day!
